Thornyx is a sculptural planter defined by structure, weight, and surface tension.
Its fractured geometry pushes outward in angular planes, creating a dense shell that feels carved rather than formed. Light breaks sharply across the surface, moving between hard highlights and deep shadow as the day changes. The result is a form that shifts in character without relying on ornament or softness.
The piece is printed as a single, seamless object and hand finished to a matte, stone-like surface that emphasizes texture and mass. Unlike concealed systems, Thornyx incorporates a visible water catch directly into the base. Excess moisture drains naturally and collects below, protecting surfaces while remaining honest and readable as part of the overall form.
Thornyx is designed to be planted directly, encouraging a hands-on relationship with the object and the plant it holds. It is intended to be used, not staged.
Well suited for succulents, hardy houseplants, or minimal arrangements where structure and contrast matter as much as growth. At 8 inches wide, Thornyx reads less like a traditional pot and more like a solid object that anchors its space.
Dimensions and construction:
The planter measures approximately 8 inches wide, 8 inches long, and 6 inches high. It is made from lightweight, plant-based PLA and includes an integrated visible water catch with no loose saucers.
